THE ESSENTIAL NICK HEYWARD COLLECTION
This November sees the first truly comprehensive compilation of Nick Heyward & Haircut One Hundred, compiled by Nick himself to coincide with the release of Fantastic Days: My Autobiography, and presented as a 2CD set and, for the first time, a single LP pressed on vinyl care of Demon Records.
For more than 45 years, Nick Heyward has written, recorded, and performed memorable, and enduring songs, initially, and again, more recently with Haircut One Hundred. Since then, as a solo artist, he has built a consistently superb body of work that now sees him feted as one of the most underrated songwriters of his generation. The Essential Nick Heyward pulls together all the hits such as ‘Love Plus One’, ‘Fantastic Day’, ‘Whistle Down The Wind’, ‘Blue Hat For A Blue Day’ and extraordinary tracks such as ‘Kite’, ‘On A Sunday’, ‘The World’, ‘Today’, and ‘Traffic In Fleet Street’.
The Essential Nick Heyward will be released around the publication of Nick’s autobiography, Fantastic Days by Peter Selby’s New Modern books, and will provide the perfect soundtrack to a tale of international fame and all the good and bad that comes with it, being cited as godfather of Britpop, soul-searching, self-deprecation and the longest overdue comeback in pop music history.
From the initial burst of creativity when Haircut One Hundred released their debut single ‘Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)’ in October ’81, through to his solo fame, his time on Sony in the 90s, being label mates with Oasis & Teenage Fanclub, to an independent artist and to the present day, back on the road and the radio with Haircut One Hundred, this collection is full to the brim with some of the most well-crafted songs of their respective decades.
