JOHNNY MARR ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM
Johnny Marr returns with the announcement of The Age Of Everything, the new studio album due for release on October 2nd via BMG.
The Age Of Everything is Johnny Marr’s fifth full length studio record. 10 new songs that he describes as the most cathartic songwriting of his career. Written in London, developed live on the road across the East Coast of North America and recorded in Manchester, The Age Of Everything captures the energy and tensions of the city. Sharp, fast and dynamic, filled with ideas and possibilities.
Brand new single ‘Spin’ is The Age of Everything’s urgent opening statement. Released today, the song is charged with emotion and sonic energy. Johnny Marr is soundtracking the collective consciousness of 2026 as he sings, “there’s too much coming into my mind”.
Introducing the album, Johnny Marr said: “This is the record that’s been the most cathartic. The title came to me early in the process and became an inescapable idea. It seemed to sum up the way I think a lot of people are feeling. It’s all encompassing, but it’s not necessarily a negative statement. There’s a sense of overwhelm in the culture brought about by technology, but looking at it with a different light, there could also be a sense of possibility.”
It is the unique dialogue that exists between Johnny Marr and his audience that has turbo-charged the sound of The Age Of Everything. Whilst touring the East Coast of North America in late 2025, more than half of the set consisted of brand new and unheard music. This research and development in the field brought a new energy to the songs, something inspired by what Johnny describes as a preoccupation with perception. How we perceive things as we move through life. Considering the possibility of everything: good and bad. Choosing the promise of the future, with defiance and resistance.
The Age Of Everything is matched by the biggest live concerts of Johnny Marr’s solo career to date. Two UK concerts are scheduled – a huge homecoming performance at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl on July 9th, and a massive headline show at London’s Wembley Arena on October 24th. European tours and festivals are on the tour run throughout the summer, including Belgium’s Live is Live with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds at the end of this month, with more touring soon to be announced.
The massive 2026 headline performances will be preceded by two intimate warm up dates in early July, at Leeds’ Stylus on July 6th, and O2 Academy Liverpool on July 7th. Fans who pre-order The Age Of Everything from the official artist album store will receive access to an exclusive fan presale for the dates. The presale will run from 10 AM on Wednesday 17th June until the general sale which starts at 10 AM Friday 19th June.
