THE CURE BOYS DON’T CRY – LIMITED EDITION EP
The Cure’s ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ has become the band’s first-ever billion-streamer on Spotify and has also hit the UK & US TikTok Charts. To celebrate, Fiction/Polydor will release a limited-edition 12” vinyl, 7” vinyl, CD & Digital formats.
Initially released as a standalone single in the summer of 1979, ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ became the title track of the US edition of the band’s debut album, Three Imaginary Boys. The song went on to become one of the band’s signature tracks and achieved international success in 1986, when Robert Smith re-recorded the vocal and remixed the backing track. Although this new version was created to promote the best of collection Staring At The Sea – The Singles, the LP itself featured the original recording, and the 7-inch version of ‘Boys Don’t Cry (New Voice – New Mix)’, now retitled ‘Boys Don’t Cry (86 Mix)’, is being released digitally for the first time.
‘Boys Don’t Cry (86 Mix)’, the 12” mix, and the B-Sides, ‘Plastic Passion’, ‘Pillbox Tales’, and ‘Do The Hansa’ have been remastered by Matt Colton.
Formed in 1978, The Cure has sold over 30 million albums worldwide, headlined the Glastonbury Festival four times, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. They are considered one of the most influential bands to have ever emerged from the UK and will be playing live across Europe in Summer 2026. Robert Smith is curating the Teenage Cancer Trust Shows at The Royal Albert Hall from 23rd to 29th March, featuring Elbow, Mogwai, Manic Street Preachers, My Bloody Valentine, Garbage, Wolf Alice and many more.
