DANIEL MILLER ANNOUNCES DUET EMMO LIVE PERFORMANCE
Duet Emmo saw a collaboration between Daniel Miller (Mute, The Normal), Edvard Graham (Wire) and BC Gilbert. This October sees their first ever live performance, nearly 45 years after they first assembled in London to record Or So It Seems.
Released in 1983, Or So It Seems was an assemblage of electronic sound collage, drone and abstract art pop. The album was recorded in the periods between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day in 1981 and 1982 with legendary engineer Eric Radcliffe at their favoured studio, Blackwing in London. All three were incredibly busy with their day jobs, meaning this recording was their only album together.
Duet Emmo’s pioneering hybrid electronics are mirrored in the project name – an anagram of Mute and Dome – and in the album’s striking artwork, a collage by supreme animators and filmmakers, the Brothers Quay redesigned by Bart van Damme.
A long-awaited release of the album, remastered from the original analogue tapes by Stefan Betke and expanded to double vinyl is available now on Mute.
Their world premiere live performance takes place this October at the ICA in London. Miller, Lewis and Gilbert will perform as part of the In The Round series at the ICA on Tuesday 27 October using d&b Soundscape, the venue’s 360° spatial soundsystem.
