TEARS FOR FEARS TO ISSUE DELUXE EDITION OF THE SEEDS OF LOVE
Over thirty-five years on from its original release, Tears For Fears’ third album, The Seeds Of Love, is being reissued as a deluxe edition in coloured vinyl, Blu-ray Atmos and 3CD sets.
Originally released in September 1989, the album was a commercial and critical triumph. It debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and achieved Platinum certification from the BPI within just three weeks. In the United States, it was also a Platinum album, reaching No. 8 on the Billboard Top 200.
Widely regarded as one of the defining albums of the late 1980s, The Seeds of Love featured the hit singles ‘Sowing the Seeds of Love’, ‘Woman in Chains’, ‘Advice for the Young at Heart’, and the album’s centrepiece, ‘Badman’s Song’. The new deluxe editions of The Seeds of Love include brand-new Steven Wilson Atmos & Stereo mixes, who ranks the album of one of his top five of all time, a 2LP edition on special-effect blue vinyl with alternate artwork, which pairs the original album with a second disc of B-sides and demos, some of which are appearing on vinyl for the first time and a three CD set featuring alternate and rare mixes, single versions and B-sides.
Discussing the album’s legacy, Roland Orzabal says, “Out of all our albums, I’d probably rank it highest. I think it surprised a lot of people, a lot of our peers as well, people who maybe we were being compared to in the mid-Eighties”. “The tracks I liked then, I still like now”, adds Curt Smith. “’Woman in Chains’, ‘Badman’s Song’, ‘Sowing the Seeds of Love’, and ‘Advice For The Young At Heart’ have all stuck around. We still play those live”.
