HUE AND CRY ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM
Award-winning, platinum-selling duo Hue And Cry have announced the release of their 16th album Everybody, due for release 29th May 2026 on CD, vinyl, digital formats and a limited-edition ultimate collector’s box set.
Formed in 1984 by Pat Kane and Greg Kane, Hue And Cry made an immediate impact with their debut album Seduced and Abandoned (1987), featuring the UK Top 10 hit ‘Labour of Love’. Success continued with albums including Remote, Stars Crash Down, Showtime and Jazz Not Jazz, producing hits such as ‘Looking for Linda’ and ‘Violently’. The band returned to mainstream prominence in 2005 as finalists on ITV’s Hit Me Baby One More Time, and in 2025 were presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Scottish Music Awards.
The idea for the new album grew from what Pat describes as “personal archaeology”, in which he dug into the instincts and impulses that defined Hue And Cry at the very beginning. “Pat wanted to make an electronic record, referencing Bowie’s Low along with Simple Minds, Japan and The Human League” explains Greg. Immersing himself in analogue and digital synthesis, he assembled what his brother calls a “man cave of oscillating objects.”

Everybody is the result of the duo sitting with analogue/digital music tech – DeepMind arpeggiators, hydrasynths, wavetables, classic drum machines – and allowing songs to emerge out of the electronic landscape around them. After two years of experimentation, the album was completed with mixing by Yoad Nevo (Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran).
Much of the writing of Everybody dates to the pre-Covid period between 2018 and 2020, a time Pat now recognizes as emotionally turbulent. “I was in anguish and I didn’t even know it”, he says. The album was delayed by a succession of life-changing events — bereavement, illness, broken relationships, the pandemic and its aftermath — followed by the band’s 40th anniversary commitments, making now the first clear moment for the music to finally emerge.
Currently completing their Electro/Acoustic duo tour, and following the recent success of their 40th Anniversary tour, Hue And Cry will be taking their full band on tour in October. “It’s always the most exciting thing to be playing live with the full Hue And Cry band – we can give all the hits and audience favourites – the full widescreen treatment” says Pat.
