VIDEO PREMIERE: SCENIUS – I WANT MORE

Scenius have a new single out this week, one which also connects with a vital part of musical history. Blitzed has the exclusive video premiere for ‘I Want More’ which is due out 16th February.

Consisting of Leeds-based producer Steve Whitfield and singer Fabrice Nau, Scenius have a particular talent for producing electronic music that touches on angular pop as well as melancholic introspection. Previously, the duo made an impact with their acclaimed 2023 album Life Is A Thing, which the Blitzed review summed up as containing “memorable electronic melodies, warm analogue sounds and an unmistakable 21st century style”.

Their new release pays homage to German experimental outfit CAN with a cover of their 1976 single ‘I Want More’. The song captured that era’s then-new sound on the dance-floor, disco and gave it just enough twist to make it edgy but still catchy enough for it to reach the UK charts and get CAN their first and only appearance on UK’s chart music show Top of The Pops.

In the hands of Scenius, the track breathes with a classic synth-pop sensibility peppered with percussive rhythms. The release of ‘I Want More’ also seems particularly timely with the recent sad passing of CAN’s Damo Suzuki.
